How do you fill in the work instruction template?

  1. State the task in one sentence. If the sentence points to two outcomes, write two instructions.
  2. Name the user and the environment. Which application, which version, which permission.
  3. Start steps with a verb. Use the interface name exactly: click Save.
  4. Add an image to every step. Mark the target with a ring or arrow and crop to the relevant area.
  5. Put the warning right next to the step. Not at the end of the page.
  6. Answer “did I do it right” with something observable. Like the message “Record created”.

For the full method, see how to write work instructions. If you need a process-level document, use the SOP template.

How do you fill the Steps section with Izly?

For a task in a software interface, record the steps with the extension instead of preparing the steps and images yourself. Each click becomes a step with a marked screenshot; in the editor you edit the text, crop the image, add warning blocks and redact sensitive areas. Add the guide link or its PDF to the template. Frequently asked questions

Do work instructions need images?

For interface tasks, in practice yes; without images, steps must use the interface names exactly. For physical tasks, photos do the same job.

Is the “Parent SOP” field required?

It helps show which process the instruction belongs to. If you have no process document, leave the field empty.

How long can an instruction be?

It is expected to be under a page. If it grows longer it probably describes more than one task; split it.
