What are the main principles of the GDPR?

Article 5 lists the principles for processing personal data: lawfulness, fairness and transparency; purpose limitation; data minimisation; accuracy; storage limitation; integrity and confidentiality; and accountability. Turkey’s KVKK has parallel principles, including processing that is related, limited and proportionate to the purpose (Article 4), and security measures (Article 12).
